Hey John,

Great question. I don't think beauty ever "goes" anywhere. It's just more 
or less evident, or more or less inherent in the pattern your perceive at 
the moment. Descriptions of beauty can be beautiful, too. Like this 
excerpt from Poe's "Annabel Lee:"

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
