[Krimel]
For example, Archimedes apparently developed a form of calculus almost 2000
years before Newton. It was an intellectual pattern of profound importance
that did not become part of the intellectual "level" because no one else
either read it or understood it. It was not shared.

[Case]
An excellent point,
My fire flinging friend
A pattern is a pattern is a pattern...
Only if it is extended in time
When an idea ceases to be thought,
It ceases to exist;
Unless of course
We remember it,
Tell it someone or
Write it down.
The intellectual "level"
Is preserved in
Memory, language and writing
Which provide intellectual patterns
With successively greater
Extension in time.
