I enjoyed the movie too.  Do you think the pope is jealous because he 
isn't blue?   Or isn't a woman?   Maybe he's craving some of that 
Oxytocin like Krimel.  What a laugh!

I think stuff like this threatens the power structures of the church. 
Even the Pope knows that when people see a potential "better way", 
they may act on it. So, as is typical, begins the smear and the fear. 
Prediction for a story that will appear in the next few months: The 
Na'vi are demons, and James Cameron is a satanist who is trying to 
murder Jesus. (Of course there will always be those who get all pissy 
when someone does anything but masturbate their self-proclaimed 
cultural and personal superiority.) But I think his fears over 
overacting, complacency is the strongest force in the cosmos, and the 
majority of the West is opiated so thoroughly it will take more than 
a sci-fi movie to have any real number of people challenge their status quo.

Calvin to Hobbes: Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent 
life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to 
contact us.
