Who spoke of elevating? Is science of a higher order? How did that happen?
What system of measurement do you use to determine this? Please explain.
[Arlo]
Intellectual patterns are morally superior to social patterns. Science is
morally superior to theism. If you have a problem with Pirsig's hierarchy, why
are you here?
I am here to discuss MoQ, not to just repeat what others say. Why are you here? If I thought that
Pirsig's hierarchy was a done deal, I would move on. Are you satisfied with what you have found?
If so, good. I need a little more detail before I believe unquestionably.
Intellectual patterns are morally inferior to social patterns. There does that make it right?
I can support my contention, can you yours?
[Mark]
If you honestly believe that plate tectonics explains things, then voodoo you.
Go back to your holy books and find more to recite. This chanting is kind
of soothing.
OK Mr. anti-theist/scientist, what is the measure of morality. Give me a number. Or if you wish you
can continue with religious platitudes in the same righteous manner you have. Oh holy holy
this is all I hear from you. Please support your contentions with a little logic otherwise you
just appear like another zealot. Enough ducking and hiding with platitudes and superstitions.
[Arlo]
Sad.
[Mark]
I do not accept the way in which you understand what Pirsig wrote.
[Arlo]
Oh silly me, I forgot that when Pirsig wrote "the MOQ is not just atheistic,
but anti-theistic", he could be interpreted to mean "the MOQ is theistic".
Perhaps Pirsig is just referring to the church. Perhaps his notion of theism is quite
different from yours. Please describe what anti-theism is. If you are just exchanging
one belief system for another how can you sit there and say that yours is not a
belief based on faith above all. All this talk about plate tectonics and oxygen.
The is just parroting the Holy book. Such blind belief is not only not intellectual,
it is dangerous.
[Mark]
If you want to keep beating the notion that somehow your Quality is above a
religion then go ahead.
[Arlo]
Well. There you have it.
[Mark]
I hear it all the time here so you are not alone.
[Arlo]
I am happy to be in agreement with Pirsig, yes.
[Mark]
I do not seem to get any answers to my questions, only religious rhetoric.
[Arlo]
Sad. But keep beating that drum. Hope it is making you feel better.
All I hear is you beating the drum about Pirsig and oxygen and all these things that
you have blind faith in. I'm just trying to wake you up. You are a hard nut to
crack, your faith seems to be unwavering. Which science books do you choose
to believe, or is it all of them? Perhaps you only believe what your friends tell you.
While it is good to have such deep faith and trust, there is a bigger picture
available for your taking which includes science and Pirsig. Everything you hear
is not necessarily true, you know. What is your filter?
