Mary,

Rereading the whole section from pg 12 to 22 which starts with Chris wanting
to tell ghost stories I am struck with fact that at some level, as much as
we would like to think otherwise, life is about chasing or being chased by
ghosts. The two biggest ghosts of all are the past and the future. So to
some degree this section sets up both books as stories of how Pirsig is
dealing with his ghosts. The question is can his stories help mankind better
deal with our ghosts? For me I think my life was better before I heard of
Pirsiq, metaphysics, philosophy, and MoQ. I lived more in the present
oriented more on the future. When you start on down the path of
contemplation it is easy to get trapped by doubt and overwhelmed by the
sheer size and complexity of it all.

Well I'm still working on is veryyyyyy slowlllllllly. Keep tuned to my
discussion with Bo. I find it hard to keep track of multiple threads inside
the same thread so I'll respond to your comment in my next response to Bo.
