[Dave]
For me that makes the problem even more difficult. Biological evolution by
natural selection at least has a well defined theory with dedicated
scientists/philosophers working on it. Evolution, unfolding, at the
physical, social, and intellectual levels really don't have any evolutionary
theories per se let alone people exploring them from that POV.

[Krimel]
I regard evolution as a form of metaphysics precisely because these ideas
that originated in biology can be applied to everything from astrophysics to
philosophy. Evolutionary thinking is a part of many disciplines today. I
fear that, what has stunted to growth of the MoQ is that Pirsig really
doesn't, to this day, understand evolutionary theory and how closely
connected to it his ideas are. Both the MoQ and evolutionary theory are
fundamentally about how static patterns arise and persist in the face of
dynamic, chaotic change.
