Ah, that explains a lot.  Something you are good at, btw, Matt.  Explaining.
 Lotsa people explain things that usually end up cloudier.  With you, I feel
like I always come away with clearer understanding in the end.

So kudos on that.  Even tho saying so probably violates my post-limit for
the day!  But if you averaged it out I think I'm under... anyway, I'm not
much of a rule-bound person.  Sorry.

Just to weigh in on the topic of discussion, The Community Building model
refers to this sort of reorganization as "rearranging the furniture" and
you'll see it in a real life group where a bunch of people will start
lobbying for moving the chairs into a circle, or setting up smaller groups.
 These efforts are almost always misguided and almost never have a positive
effect, as you pointed out with your examples.
