Hi Khoo,
I am of the similar position on this subjectmatter,
I have asked Bodvar those questions many times
"in what way will it be better?" in our discussions
he explained how Pirsigs model of the four levels
really is reality, his whole arguement is then predicated
on it. MoQ to his interpretation is the next step in evolution
Now if you ask me, and you have seemed to have
picked up on the kind of culturally chauvanistic way
it tends to support, this would be a bad opening
to a metaphysics in fact, it's not any different than
the type of correspondance theory views of what
Pirsig names as SOM.
It is inaccurate to think of MoQ as revolutionary,or evolutionary rather
more of an ancient understanding. James said of Pragmatism
"some new words for some old ways of thinking."

Perhaps MoQ will be the McDonalds of Buddhism.

If Bodvar had his way it would be. But I think christianity holds
that place as of now.
Hi All,
Bo concludes after commenting on the half-baked SOM of the Orient and the
woolly mess in its wake that:
The Western MOQ will be a better "Buddhism"!
Khoo:
I would certainly like to see this if it were to be so: }
What are we talking about here:
An intellectual pattern better than another intellectual pattern ?
A Dynamic aspect better than its Static aspect?
A better route than another route to Reality?
Is there a Western MOQ to begin with ?
I do not remember Pirsig saying as such
in either ZAMM or LILA ?
In what way will it be better ?
The way Muslims say Islam is better ?
The way Christians says theirs is better ?
Science says its better, because they seek the Truth,
Nothing less nothing more.
Is this what the Western MOQ is about ?
Truth Seeking, Reality Seeking, Morally Speaking ?
Evolution on to Better State,
Or an Ultimate Reality, an Ultimate Good ?
That is better than the other "Good"s?
Always better, never lesser.
I wonder.
The Buddha after all did say" What I have taught you is like the leaves in
my hand
and what I have not taught you is like the leaves in the jungle"
Perhaps Buddhism as a Metaphysics is indeed insufficient
and a Western MOQ will make up the difference.
Best Regards
Khoo Hock Aun
