Ron to Khoo:
It is inaccurate to think of MoQ as?revolutionary,or evolutionary rather
more of an ancient understanding. James said of Pragmatism
"some?new words for some old ways of thinking."
Andre:
Hi Ron, full agreement. Pirsig makes it very clear in LILA that he
uses 'old' insights and with his refreshed look upon things, and with
a slight change of interpretation up-ends the entire way of extracting
meaning from this.
It's an old adage but the world simply does not change. It is changing
in the way we look at it, experience it that we change and that the
world changes with it.
This may not fit Bodvar's revolutionary 'idea' about it but... the old
ways of thinking have nothing to do with intellect and are therefore
socially steeped with a stupid superstition and cannot have resembled
any idea of the higher intellectual truths that are the real thing and
bring us closer to the Quality perspective.
As Pirsig said Quality lies at the pre- intellectual edge of... .
And there is one other thing I re-read last night. When Pirsig talks
about the inescapability of metaphysics he said that:'As long as
you're in a logical, coherent universe of thought you can't escape
metaphysics. A universe of thought... . Yes.
And of course Pirsig created a metaphysics belonging to, representing
and arising out of all the levels not just the intellectual. The MoQ
is not out of SOM.
Imho
Andre
