Hi Arlo,
Thanks for bringing the analogy topic up. I think I have to drop
the word faith because of its different connotations to many. I
do not mean to demean things by calling them faith, accepted
reality may be a better way.
This term analogy may work, although the definitions held may
still create a barrier to an understanding of what I am trying to
say. However, if I state that science is an analogy in the same
way, say, a religion is, perhaps that will sit better. Yes, everything
is an analogy. And, that is not a bad thing, it is just an analogy.

And, how about an answer to Pirsig's question,
"Why survive?" (Notice that Pirsig did not invoke the "mu" cop out.)
[Arlo]
Phædrus says, "All this is just an analogy."
Silence. And then confusion appears on the
Chairman's face. "What?" he says. The spell of his performance is broken.
"This entire description of the chariot and horses is just an analogy."
"What?" he says again, then loudly, "It is the
truth! Socrates has sworn to the Gods that it is the truth!"
Phædrus replies, "Socrates himself says it is an analogy."
"If you will read the dialogue you will find that
Socrates specifically states it is the Truth!"
"Yes, but prior to that...in, I believe, two
paragraphs...he has stated that it is an analogy."
Just like the Chairman, Platt. If you spent more
time actually trying to learn things, rather than
pontificating your misunderstandings... But, Pirsig had gone on...
"Of course it's an analogy. Everything is an
analogy. But the dialecticians don't know that.
That's why the Chairman missed that statement of Socrates."
[Platt]
Well, what is the cause of evolution?
[Arlo]
"Cause" = Quality (scarequote deliberate and
necessary). Process = Emergence (as described by the MOQ).
