Subject: [MD] Synchronicity and Quality
Hi,
I was wondering if there had been any discussion on the topic of
synchronicity in terms of Quality. I am referring to the term as
expounded by Jung, but am expanding it to ultimate synchronicity.
Several times, following self-induced (non-drug) psychosis I have
arrived at a place where every single thing is synchronous. That is
everything is connected with meaning. It was both amazing and
disturbing, and I quickly put back the filter of logic and reasoning.
It taught me not to dabble too much in that kind of thinking. However,
what I saw blew my mind. Probably just me going nuts. What I
experienced was an orchestrated dance. Sometimes I feel that
perhaps I was somehow one with Quality. OK, it's crazy, I know, just a state
of mind...
Sometimes I wonder if that is what it feels to be autistic. I've heard
terms such as poor sensory integration. That is the mind cannot
construct a pattern from the input the way we do. Now, I believe that
any way to see reality is as real as any other, but these episodes left
me non-functional in this world, just full of amazement. Perhaps
being without SOM is not a good way to survive.
So if synchronicity is the ultimate recognition of the tapestry
of the universe, I would think it has something to do with Quality.
It has been proposed by Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD that
synchronicity is akin to the Tao(see The Tao of Psychology:
Synchronicity and Self). She is (was?) a Jungian.
Anyway, synchronicity and Quality, any ideas? I know
that Dirk Gently has some (and so does Sting for that
matter).
