John:  Who said anything about happiness?  Pirsig didn't equate happiness as
a test of truth.

If my child got killed in an accident, and I'm hungry and I eat, I may
satisfy my hunger with food, but I won't be happy.

Satisfaction is related to desire.  Desire is what keeps us probing and
seeking.  We can be perfectly content and happy in the process of seeking,
but we won't be satisfied till we find what we are looking for.

Neither should one be able to claim that the space-time continuum is 3
billion years old, as if they stood outside of space and time and had their

definitive fact.
