[Ham]:
Pirsig has a dismissive attitude toward religion, as demonstrated in the
section you quoted:
"To be sure, with Bradley, the greatest of the British idealists, the
concept of God passed into that of the Absolute, and religion was depicted
as a level of consciousness which is surpassed in metaphysical philosophy,
while McTaggart, the Cambridge idealist, was an atheist. The MOQ agrees with
both."
Unfortunately, the MoQ never rises to the level of "metaphysical
philosophy" that he claims "surpasses" religion. Pirsig also makes these
assertions in the Copleston annotations
"The MoQ is AETHEISTIC. ...The MOQ would add a fourth stage where the term
"God" is completely dropped as a relic of an evil social suppression of
intellectual and Dynamic freedom. The MOQ is not just atheistic in this
regard. It is ANTI-THEISTIC."
If that is not being opposed to religion, I don't know how he could have
made it any clearer.
[Adrie]:
> I do not disapprove [of] your search, I think this is of value for you.
[Ham, previously]:
The question is: Is it a value for YOU? If not, there is no point in
pursuing it.
[Adrie]:
> No , there is no point in this issue for me.
Well, then, that would appear to close our discussion of Essentialism. I
had hoped that you would at least explain to me how you can put Quality
primary to the Creator before bowing out of our dialogue.
But, since such matters are not important to you, I suppose you're not going
to provide an answer.

I am not interested in "options", thenk you, but am glad you think my
philosophical quest is "decent".
Best wishes for your fulfillment in 'Qualityland'.
