No, they are just mistaken at times, to the world's detriment, as Pirsig
clearly explains. In other words, sometimes they're not as smart as they think
they are.

Everyone is mistaken at times. I know of no "intellectuals" or "academics" who
think they are infallible (at least no more so than radio talk show
ideologues). And if you understood Pirsig, you'd see the "world's detriment" is
not simply "intellectuals and socialism", but an SOM-foundation that is
informing ALL -isms and life in the West; eloquently described in ZMM.
