Hi Mary and All,

I grew up in a family of 14, 9 boys and 5 girls.  One time my older brother
quoted:  ³Everybody can be wrong some of the time. Somebody can be wrong all
of the time.  Everybody can¹t be wrong all of the time.²  I guess Platt
knows that quote.  
 
Imho: In order to turn the ³metaphysical sock² SOM has to have the holes in
it darned.  DQ/SQ replaces the metaphysical nightmare, SOM.  An acceptance
of an order of evolution in reality is good yarn for the needle of
existence.   Pirsig proposes levels in evolution of metaphysical reality.
Unfortunately there is little experience in historical thought with an
evolutionary approach.  The reality of evolution is denied.  How can there
be an order in existence? The question ³how many levels?² distracts logic
from its appointed goal, truth!
 
Evolution is an assumption!   The environment moved from a
Material-Biological Level approach to an Intellectual Level mathematical
approach.  There is a superior sneering nod to an emotional level of Love
approach reflecting gender conflict.  Emotions are DQ! Why sneer at love
just because Hollywood seems so shallow?  The metaphysics of evolution for
which mathematics has no justification leaves us teetering on extinction.
Don¹t abandon mathematics!  Let metaphysics with its emphasis on evolution
help fill out a description of experience for men and women!
 
The vision of people like Pirsig who seem to inhabit a higher emotional or
higher intellectual order in DQ, again validates the historical record of
heroes.
