Right. Pirsig asserts relative truth (the gallery analogy) to be universally
true.
I don't how to limbo, but maybe somersaults would also be appropriate.
His other capitulation to relativity is his statement in SODV:
"The reason there is a difference between individual evaluations of quality is
that although Dynamic Quality is a constant, these static patterns are
different for everyone because each person has a different static pattern of
life history."
So SOM is different for everyone. No wonder it's so popular. It can be used to
justify any stance the current intellectual elite and their camp followers
consider respectable.
