No wonder you find no value in Pirsig.
thinking = haveNextThought();
While (thinking == true) {
qLevel = Intellectual;
system.out.println ("qLevel = " + qLevel);
thinking = haveNextThought();
}
// TODO - can somebody on 2nd shift fix this? keeps getting stuck here.

I don't speak any computer language fluently but you seem to b e rigidly
defining a set of terms and saying that while certain relationships which
you define exist between those terms rinse and repeat. Algorithms or any
sort are symbolic statements and are themselves part of the intellectual
level. They are part of them level whether they work or not or where they
are running or not. Thinking in fact is irrelevant to the intellectual level
which is a set of past thoughts that have been preserved in such as way as
to be accessible and processable by others.
[Mary]
It doesn't matter that you are thinking. It matters what you are thinking
about.
[Krimel]
It doesn't even matter what you are thinking about unless you encode it and
then it is the code that matters but only when someone else processes it.

Who said the Intellectual Level was special? All are just static patterns
of value and all of them have to follow the same rules. It's at the top of
the hierarchy, but try going a day without the Inorganic.
[Krimel]
I have habituated to Bo and rarely read what he writes because every time I
do I find the same misunderstanding repeated over and over.
In your view what characterizes the patterns of value that one would expect
to find on the intellectual level?
[Mary Replies]
Sure. And if you're going to explain coding to me you should be seeing that
I could take a circuit tester or something to your laptop but would have a
rough time finding your post in it. It could be done, as hackers know, but
it sure is a lot harder than opening Outlook. And what if you encrypted it?
Without decrypting I'd probably never get it right at all. Levels of
abstraction are everything.
[Krimel]
Pirsig's comments on the nature of a novel, typed into a word processor are
instructive here. There are a variety of ways that my posts can be and are
encoded. I have Window 7 Ultimate and could encrypt them if I wanted. Horse
may be storing them on encrypts servers. You could print them on paper and
wipe your ass with them. These are just different ways that ideas become
patterns. It is the patterns that make up the level.

When roses start coming out of your mouth just because you are talking about
them, or your laptop can shit me a new car, then we can talk - in fact I'd
love to because I'd like to have some roses and a new car. Thank you!
[Krimel]
Shit Happens.
That's the MoQ for you...
It's all just shit happening.
There is good shit and bad shit
And shit for growing roses.
Even my laptop takes the occasional core dump.
There is bullshit and chicken shit.
One at least has substance
The other is just running off the mouth.
Talk on, my dear...
