SOM says that there is an objective world "out there" that we "in here"
only can theorize about. Further, the in-here theories are supposed to
be "intellectual" thus intellect and thinking has become synonymous.
Now along comes the MOQ and says that the said "in here/ out there"
dichotomy is NOT reality's ground, but the mere static intellectual level
of the real ground - the DQ/SQ.configuration This INVERSION cannot
be called "intellectual" because the very term has changed
fundamentally.

If you drop "intellectual" we agree. The switch from SOM to MOQ is
what Pirsig tries to convey by the inside-out turn of a smelly sock
metaphor. The bugs inside are on the same turf, yet in a different
universe and in the Q-universe thinking isn't an intellectual activity,
rather a biological capacity that can be employed by all levels.
