[MD] The Quality/MOQ meta-metaphysics

OK thanks Arlo, (and Horse) now Bo, ...

That Pirsig quote is from the Paul Turner letter (2003) and Bo
response to it was in his SOLAQI piece ?

Pirsig:
The argument that the MOQ is not an intellectual formulation but some
kind of other level is not clear to me. There is nothing in the MOQ
that I know of that leads to this conclusion.

Bo:
This one is for me, but I can only say that an intellectual level
“containing ideas” – SOM one idea and the MOQ another - is
incompatible with the SOL. Earlier in this letter Pirsig says that
intellect can’t see itself. That’s just right! A higher ground is
needed to see the outline of something and that is what the MOQ
provides! It sees intellect for what it really is – a mere static
level of its own system.

I just answered this (and so did Arlo, again and again). No one is
saying MoQ "IS" intellect - we are saying a Metaphysics is an
intellectual pattern which contains a description of everything
including intellectual things - it would be a pretty useless
metaphysics if it didn't . Mission accomplished. No problem. The meta
prefix lets us recognise (the otherwise absurdity of) a thing
describing itself, and not get hung up on the not-quite-circular
logic. The "meta" gives us that higher level to look at intellect from
a point hypothetically outside intellect, using our intellect. Far
from being a problem, that's what it's for. As Aro says ... it's what
the M stands for.

The MoQ frees us from this prison of intellectual patterns of logic,
by valuing our experience in breaking such patterns.
