The meta prefix lets us recognise (the otherwise absurdity of) a thing
describing itself, and not get hung up on the not-quite-circular logic.

Just want to emphasize something here, that I am sure you agree with, but I
want to highlight.

ALL descriptions of "reality" (metaphysics) are recursive. They ALL describe a
reality that they themselves are part of. If we haven't evolved yet to a point
where such recursions ceases to frighten us, then frankly I'm saddened.

Are we really all like Mudd's Norman, so incompletely capable of grasping that
recursion is part of all systems powerful enough to represent "reality" in any
meaningful way?
