This is similar to the question John Lennon asked in his song "Imagine".  It is also what Ayn Rand imagined with better analysis in her novel, "Atlas Shrugged", in the stories of the Twentieth Century Motor Corp. & Galt's Gulch. As Rand says, money is just a medium of storing value (= saving).  If money were/were made worthless, would those rational people who held objects of real value give them away or head for the "underground economy"?
