The signposts, the flag waving and the protective walls and fences would be
SQ patterns in the world around us.  The values and the meaning behind the
signposts and flags and the interpersonal relationships would also be SQ
patterns, but in our interior worlds; our hearts and minds.  I didn't think of this
at the time but I suppose it would be correct to say the former would be SQ
social patterns and the latter would be SQ intellectual patterns.
  
The Metaphysics of Quality says that SQ patterns are generated by and
driven to evolve by something greater than themselves, DQ, and that the
arrow of this flow is directed from DQ to SQ.  It also speaks to a flow in the
opposite direction, from SQ to DQ.
  
     Static quality patterns are dead when they are exclusive, when they
     demand blind obedience and suppress Dynamic change. But static
     patterns, nevertheless, provide a necessary stabilizing force to protect
     Dynamic progress from degeneration. Although Dynamic Quality, the
     Quality of freedom, creates this world in which we live, these patterns of
     static quality, the quality of order, preserve our world. Neither static nor
     Dynamic Quality can survive without the other. (Lila, p. 120)
  
The idea that the Metaphysics of Quality can't be anti-anything is based on
this notion that the interaction between SQ and DQ is a flow in both
directions.  That is, DQ, as "the source of all things" gets the train started
but the interaction between SQ and DQ keeps the train going.
