SA,
You asked, "[...] does it come down to belief in MOQ?"
I think it comes down to belief in Quality as "the source of all things." The
entire Metaphysics of Quality stems from this one idea.
I posted the following last Saturday on the MOQ bulletin board
<http://www.phpbb88.com/moq/index.php>. There has been almost no traffic
there. So if this is a violation of some kind I hope it will not be a big one.
As a static pattern of intellectual quality (SQ) the Metaphysics of Quality
(MoQ) is like a signpost to Dynamic Quality (DQ). It can't contain DQ but
it can point to it.
How does the MoQ signpost point to DQ? is a question that has intrigued
me ever since my first read of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
(ZAMM). The question is intriguing on two fronts. The MoQ, according to
itself, derives from DQ because DQ is the source of all static patterns of
value. But DQ is meaningless apart from the MoQ. The problem, if there is
one, is fraught with both ontological and epistemological issues. Which
came first, the MoQ or DQ? And how does one find meaning in something
(DQ) that is beyond form and substance.
I believe the MoQ resonates in me because the questions it poses are the
same questions that are at the root of my Christian faith. My faith
packages these questions into something called incarnational mysticism.
That is, the spirit of God is at the same time both immanent and
indwelling and transcendent and beyond.
And so the static patterns I find in Christian rites and rituals are like
signposts to the transcendent God that is the source of all things.
How do others see the relationship between DQ and the MoQ as SQ?
