[MD] Are we the people stupid?

[Platt]
As usual, the Marxist critical thinker takes a quote out of context (and omits
the reference). Pirsig continues: [snipped]
[Arlo]
Quote the full context all you want. I applaud that. It does not deter from the
point, "conservatives who keep trumpeting about the virtues of free enterprise
are normally just supporting their own self-interest. They are just doing the
usual cover-up for the rich in their age-old exploitation of the poor." Take
heed.
[Platt]
A regulated free market is an oxymoron -- except to a Marxist critical thinker.
[Arlo]
Then, the success of "child pornography" should be determined "by the market".
Yes? And marriage too, we should let the "market" determine who can marry who,
and not pass inane laws to regulate the market. Yes? And immigration. We should
let the "market" decide that too? Right?
But go ahead, convince us that we should return to the "glory days" or 1890.
Tell us how we would be better off. I wait for this.
[Platt]
Khaled is perfectly capable of answering himself without your help. But,
Marxists are well known meddlers in other people's business. So we understand.
[Arlo]
Oh, but, of course, as a leftist liberal evil subhuman, I have only aspirations
to interfere in the dialogues of others.
Khaled is, of course, more capable than I. But I did not see the dialogue as
restricted, something, I suppose, "rightists" tend to do.
You can present all the continuing arguments you wish. The point remains that
the "Victorians" were by no means "heralded" by Pirsig. There were good things
about them, and there were bad things.
I admire your chutzpah in admitting that you want a return to "Victorian
values". Pirsig anticipated it. And lo and behold, conservatives ask for it.
But, you should heed Pirsig's warnings.
"It just got worse and worse around here. The rich got glitzier and glitzier and
the poor got scuzzier and scuzzier until you finally got to New York City.
Homeless crazies hovering over ventilator grates while billionaires are
escorted past them to their limousines. With each somehow accepting this as
natural."
Which is, of course, the party line. Is it not?
