Well the title of this discussion is "Are we the people stupid?"

More like Hoodwinked and Bamboozled

So this has turned into a pissing match and my bladder is full.
The news this morning showed gas somewhere in this great land of ours at
$4.15 a gallon for premium.

then we get told the following:

1. India and China are to blame.
2. We are changing from winter to summer gas, and refineries have to
readjust. ( amazing a problem they have not been able to solve for the
last 10 years)
3. OPEC is gouging us

And the STUPID people buy that jargon.

What the media, congress, leaders, the government fail to mention is that
Oil is a commodity traded on wall street and that's where all the gouging
is happening. Here are the facts no body wants to see. It's a lot easier
to blame the other guy.

I say follow the money

1. Half the oil is produced locally
2. Very little if any of Alaska's oil come to the US due to logistics
reasons. Yes folks, it all get exported. So drilling in Alaska will solve
nothing.
3. Here is a list of OPEC's members: Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq,
Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates,
and Venezuela. ( It's always easier to blame brown skin people for your
woes, right Platt?)

And here is where our total petroleum came from in February of this year.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_le
vel_imports/current/import.html

Total Imports of Petroleum (Top 15 Countries)
(Thousand Barrels per Day)

Country Feb-06

CANADA 2,249
MEXICO 1,878
VENEZUELA 1,472
SAUDI ARABIA	1,451
NIGERIA 1,377
ANGOLA 478
ALGERIA 446
IRAQ 444
VIRGIN ISLANDS 318
RUSSIA 304
ECUADOR 234
UNITED KINGDOM 205
BRAZIL 200
NORWAY 199
KUWAIT 158

The question is, If those bastards at OPEC raise their price, why don't
those FRIENDLY counties to us, keep their prices where their are to help
us out.?????????????????
If you do the math, you will see that only about 30% of our oil comes
from "unfriendly sellers" the rest is home grown. So even if the bad guy
jacks up the price to $100, the local guy in Texas should keep at $25,
right?

Oh but this is a free market and Platt will argue that we should not
interfere in it and we should charge what the market will bear.?
I agree with that. The only thing I ask for is to tell the people the
TRUTH as to why gas is $4 a gallon and show us really where the money is
going.

Fair enough?

So are Canada and Mexico Cashing in on this.?

Is Mexico holding oil as a bargaining Chip with immigration issues?
So yes it's the few on the top, that can eventually take us into the next
recession.

Have a good weekend
