Hi DM:

[DM]
Just wonderring what happened to all the labour
of my poor Irish family and why they handed nothing
down to me, but those English landowners & factory owners
seem to be doing quite well.

[PH]
Yea, I wonder what happened to all the labor of my poor English family
and why they handed nothing down to me. For all I know they blew it at
the track. But whoever said life was fair?

[DM]
Get real Platt about how the few got to own almost
all of the planet. And if capitalism is such a good
game why don't we re-slice out the planet and play
another hand to see who wins again, say every year.

Here in the U.S. the government, representing all of us, owns most of
the West and the entire shoreline out to international waters. The part
of the planet that is developed was done so by the brains and work of
entrepreneurs willing to take great risks while the rest of us sat
around thinking the world owed us a living. As for changing hands, the
market does that every day, with some businesses failing (GM) and
others rising (Google). Nothing in this country is stopping you from
becoming another Bill Gates. Fortunately, this is still the land of
Dynamic opportunity, which explains why so many in the world are dying
to come here.

[DM]
Of course envy would be odd coming from someone
who presently sits in the top 5% of the hierarchy. Try
sense of fairness instead.

So are you suggesting for the sake of fairness that government step in
to redistribute wealth at the point of a gun? I hope I've misread your
intentions.

Best,
Platt
