Better late, than never:
Capitalism (i.e., a free market economic system) does not suppose that people only labor for personal profit, or self-gain.
Capitalism is compatible with people who labor for "non-profit" organizations (e.g., "Doctors without Borders" or Mother Theresa) as well as those who join a kibbutz.
As for Communism, its problem is not with those people who labor to better humanity with no concern for their own profit (all economic systems can welcome them), but with those people who expect humanity to labor to benefit them.
