Not true.  Suppose you're a farmer with 2 bushels of potatoes & my cow produces 2 calves.  We both prefer eating meat & potatoes, to eating just meat or just potatoes.  We exchange a bushel of potatoes for a calf.  We both profit.
OR
I am a carpenter & buy 8 planks from the lumber store.  I fasten 4 planks together as a table top & cross 2 planks at each end for legs, making a picnic table.  Shouldn't I sell the picnic table for more than I paid for the planks & thereby produce a profit?
