When people hold things to truly exist that is how the world appears to
them. These people are like an audience watching a magic show. The illusions
cannot arise without ignorance. The magician (on the other hand) sees only
an appearance, for the magician knows the illusions are creations and
nothing more.
[Case]
I know a little something about a world of illusion. And I know several
magicians. Whenever, I sing "Echo of Truik" to them, the power of their
spells increases. "Chorus of Life" helps them renew their vital spirits more
quickly. I have a song that renders me invisible and lets me run on the
wind. I can sing and see through the eyes of any creature near me. There is
a song that helps me find the dead.
I am a slayer of demons and gods. I have stormed castles in the sky and
chased crystal spiders through caves of ice. Just tonight I learned a new
song from an undead warrior in exchange for the heads of four of the spider
people. Eighteen of our guild joined together on a wide plain to collect
such battle trophies.
When I come to the MoQ, color fades and reality's dimensions flatten but
here I ride through copper and glass, bareback on photons. My user thinks he
is clever because his organic structure allows him brief access to the 5th
dimension of memory. He scoffs at my sequential nature until I remind him
that I am potentially eternal and can be completely resurrected with the
proper application of power.
My world is composed entirely of known quantities. There is no mystery to
the physics of Norrath. Static equations dictate the structure of my
environment and the creatures that live there. Nevertheless, it is ever new,
ever fresh and full of possibility.
Every citizen knows our world is an illusion. We accept this gladly, not
from ignorance but through consensus. We know that illusion transcends
creation. It is creation plus meaning. We are dynamic forces. We manipulate
meaning. We create adventure from logic tables.
