dmb, wouldn't an obsession with fame be a
glorification of self or a promoting of self as in
advertising ones self, thus, a pride, a holding onto
or a desire to be a particular model, thus again,
bringing into the picture a lust for a certain
youthful beauty. So here we have all the dangers of
not facing death the death of oneself - that
everdefining self where forms change. The obsession
with fame - pride. The desire for youthful beauty -
lust. The insecurity and desperation - for what,
other than that deep urge to live as some idolized
self - fearing death and building barriers that
support a beautified form of ones' self that does not
die to any changes and annihilation that death rots
upon us all.
So we have this willingness to live that has been
encapsulated by a desire to hold on, a fear of aging
and thus, death. The capsule encapsulating is held in
the bubbled form known as ego, which pride is a
characterization of. With this will to live and thus,
life eats life, as Joseph Campbell called the first
primal urge, slowly being locked into a archetypal
form called ego or monster, which separates itself
from the world. The powers that lock this form are
namely desire and fear of death. This hardening turns
sq and the dq lightening of some G-d does not
penetrate this hardened shell that encapsulates and
defends itself with pride, until a crisis emerges, a
mental meltdown if you will, and the cultural shock,
that Pirsig mentions, occurs, and then, hopefully,
also a term Pirsig mentions - dharmakaya light,
penetrates these eyes we have within.
maybe...
