Marsha,

In the now... what is happening now? What is
now? I believe in the completeness of what is now
according to what I sense, not just with the usual
five senses, but also with the sense of balance (inner
ear if I must say) and the heart and mind. I feel my
fingers typing on the keyboard. I took the dog out
not too long ago and the cold, wet, gray cloudy winter
day touched my core. The wet leaves in the woods.
The wintry light and dark browns of the cut corn field
and hay field brings a beauty and feel that is alive.
Could I know this if I were dead? Death, well I know
that as a word defining a moment of change, at least
from my experience. Death does not mean an end to
what we have traditionally come to call life. How
could I know anything but life? I was born and
experience only this earth and sky. Before this my
mind goes blank. After this when I become dust, my
mind goes blank. My mind goes blank meaning I have no
memory, no sense of what it is before and after this.
Thus, to me there is no before and after - only this
right here and now. I am only capable of experiencing
what I call: the Great Teaching or in other words this
life. Life ever-present. Life going on and on, day
after day after day with nights thrown in as well.
Sounds eternal. Eternal mixed with change. Change
always happening. Winter, Spring, Summer and
Autumn... The birds are quiet today. It is chilly.

SA
