The Hippie battle cry: "Make love, not war."
[Arlo]
I would rather hear this "battle cry" coming from the Middle East than what
we are hearing today. Wouldn't you?
Wouldn't you rather have seen a "Tehranstock" in response to the cartoons
than what we are seeing? Wouldn't you rather see hordes of Middle Eastern
hippies staging a "love in" at the Danish Embassy, rather than torching it?
Wouldn't you rather see crowds of protestors waiving "peace" flags and
getting high than burning our flags and firing guns?
I would.
But, as Andrew Eldritch of The Sisters of Mercy (incarnated as The
Sisterhood in this 1986 release) so eloquently states in "Colours"...
"You reap what you sow
Put your face to the ground
Here come the marching men
Your colours wrapped around"
Arlo
PS: By the way, I assume then that "conservative" battle cry is "Make war,
not love"?
