[Ian] I see this "easier" aspect a recurring theme in these complex debates
where simple politics are wishful thinking. It's one of the reasons
I'm passionate about the idea that whatever metaphysics / philosophieswe end
up sharing (here or anywhere) they absolutely must be pragmatic
- easy to apply - starting from where we are now, not in idealised
ivory towers.
I think the trick is to hold "easy" in mind
without falling into the trap of "easiest = best"
Hi Ian, Arlo, Mike, Platt, and All
IMO The sentiment of "hold 'easy' in mind" is good. IMO the language of
physics was greatly facilitated by the formulation of a law of gravity. IMO
metaphysics and evolution (morality) would benefit from laws. For DQ/SQ a
law of three applies. Whether the formulation is SOL or CIi (interpretant),
an individual manifests. Conscious or mechanical is SO or CI, and L or i is
the medium of conscious or mechanical. A sentence betrays a conscious or
mechanical formulation.
A manifestation of 'good' which evolves may be seen in seven steps Do, Re,
Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti. The first three Inorganic, Male, Female-Do, Re, Mi,
one, two, three, Social, Intellectual-Fa, Sol four and five, and
enlightenment in Consciousness -- higher Social, higher intellectual La, Ti
six and seven - an order of evolution (morality). IMO The next higher Do is
absolute. Between Mi-Fa, and Ti-Do, trouble lurks, where conscious or
mechanical depend on effort. Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY!
Joe
