Ian,

Ian said:
You say, Pirsig's "Quality" is not to be explained ?
I'm OK with that, that's at the centre of the "very tiny hole" in his
metaphysics - everything else is explained relative to that.

Scott:
And I say that, since value, consciousness and intellect are mutually
implicated, consciousness and intellect are not to be explained either,
since neither can be explained in terms of quality or, in my opinion,
anything else. This makes a bigger hole, but that does not bother me, for
pragmatic reasons.

Ian said:
But you also said ...
"it seems that you are not familiar with where I am coming from. It is
new to you, so it takes more time to explain"

Any reason why I shouldn't suggest you are an arrogant, ignorant,
patronising imbecile ? Stop telling me what I don't know and stick to
the subject ;-)

Scott:
Yes there is a reason. There are some ideas that I have read that have
formed my thinking on these matters, which you do not seem to be familiar
with. If I leave them out, I can't say what I think is important about this
subject. That's all I'm saying. If we had a discussion on management, you
would have to tell me lots of things I don't know for you to make yourself
understood. But I wouldn't consider you an arrogant, etc. because of that.
