The mizrahis are the more than one million Arab Jews that were forced to
leave Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Morocco, Syria and go live in Palestine.
They are to a certain degree second class citizens in Israel.
During the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982-83, my father pointed out
to me the racial divide in the israeli army. you could actually see it.
The officers were tall, fair skinned, well tailored, well fed, on the
other hand the foot soldiers were the Yemenite, Iraqis and so forth. The
darker lack for a lack of better word. They were the ones left to do the
foot patrol and meet the booby traps.
That goes without saying to the Ethiopians that were rescued in operation
Moses.
Every society has its hicks and hillbillies. Italy got north and south,
France does. Look at the US, even among minorities, there is a racial
divide. New comers vs. old, lighter skinned vs. darker. India has it's
Untouchables. The Russians view the chechens as "blacks".
That being said, these race lines should make no difference. It all
depends on how society as a whole treat every body. Send any minority, or
majority hungry to bed, and they will rise.
The Oil will eventually run out in that part of the world. Then what? it
will return to the dust dunes it once was. The battle over water will
begin.
Orwell wrote Animal farm and 1984. So much came true.
Will soylent green be next?
