Marsha et al,
I think those of us who are "pro-MoQ" share similar frustrations with
making real world progress with it (whilst still accomodating genuine
debate with those who find issues with it.) Like many, I'm tired of
debate with those peddling fundamentally different metaphysics, (or in
some cases mischievous spoiling tactics), particulartly when we've
been round the block many times already.
My "Lines in the sand" thread, immediately following the Liverpool
conference was aimed at that objective too. A group of us who live
close enough to meet with each other met recently to talk about ways
to make this kind of progress, and I'm hoping we will share some ideas
more widely, and canvas support for evolving MoQ-Discuss, very soon.
Very soon hopefully.
I consider myself 100% for the MoQ (though naturally, I recognise I'm
making interpretations when I say that)
Someone like say Sam (a theist) and I, given that I'm an atheist, find
that we agree 99% when it comes to what is right about the MoQ.
Marsha, (and maybe DMB ?) I think perhaps you need to separate theism
and religion ? Many of us share some "faith" in the more mystical
aspects of "quality" - even if a passing interest in Buddhism is about
as close as some of us would claim to being "religious" - some would
say I'm "religiously" attached to science - guilty. Being atheist
means I don't have any faith in Sam's "God", but I do recognise the
value in religious belief. (At the risk of personalising this too far
- the fact that a theist and and atheist agree 99% on the value in the
MoQ, should be a cause of positive interest, no ? I find it
fascinating.)
Scott, I'm still struggling to get to the reality of our differences,
but his view still seems quite un-MoQ-ish to me.
Anyway, great to see the positive pro-MoQ vibe stoked by your post Marsha.
