Ant,
Where's the evidence ? Not a lot, depending on your standards of
evidence, and acceptance of metaphors. I said I didn't discount,
rather than supported / defended. So open-minded angles are.
(1) 100 million new-agers, paranormals and millenia of mystics (and
Bill Hicks) (and a fair bunch of open-minded scientific sceptics)
can't all be wrong, can they ?
(2) I said "some aspect of" consciousness. I've got about as far as
some level of information communication underlying consciousness (and
the rest of nature and the MoQ). Don't panic - I'm nowhere close to
believing that anything like full formed intentional consciousness
exists independently of the rest of nature. Whatever the truth of (1)
is, it's not supernatural.
(3) Caveat metaphor. It's linguistic and conceptual metaphors all the
way down. So conversations with the likes of Scott, and some of the
more sensible mystics and theists still need to be taken seriously.
