just a thought:
oscar wilde once said that the mark of a quality work
of art was that people either loved it or hated it; ie
eliciting a response is key. 
it doesn't really matter if julian whatshisface agrees
with bob or not; the important thing was that he
responded -emotionally, intellectually - to pirsig's
stuff, it affected him. therefore it won't be
forgotten. job done and a big step forward for quality
philosophy i reckon. nice one bob.
