I completely agree. (Major part of my thesis - usually hidden thanks
to the gender neutrality of "quality".)

Our resident mythologists will no doubt elucidate, but I strongly
suspect its called "mother" earth because all her arrogant sons see
her as less important precursor in the scheme of things, than their
own masculine wills :-)
