Matt --

As a compliment to your analytical competence, I quoted a paragraph of yours
which patently supports Pirsig's response to the interviewer's "fundamental
constituents" question, commenting that "Matt seems to feel that Pirsig
covered his bases".

You've objected to this assessment:

> From now on, Ham, I don't think you should assume you know
> how I feel about Pirsig. I don't feel like you've ever had a very
> good handle on what my relationship is with Pirsig.

It's true, I don't know what your relationship with (or "feeling" toward)
Pirsig is. But I can't understand how my characterization of your statement
could have offended you. I suppose I might have said: "Matt seems to imply
that..." or "seems to suggest that..."; but would it have made any
difference?

Your appraisal of the author's response is clearly supportive: "One, just as
Pirsig said, 'Quality' or 'value' is the fundamental constituent of the
universe." You also portray the interviewer as the person "asking the bad
question". So, how does my not having "a very good handle" on your
relationship with Pirsig have any bearing on this issue?

Since you offer no explanation, I can only conclude that henceforth you do
not wish to be mentioned in my posts. In the absence of a reply, I shall
honor that request.

Ham
