Hello. I am fairly new to this list but its interesting that your "first
answer" would be the one I would choose precisely for the reasons you
stated. I've never been convinced that there is any way to divide the
"intellectual level" from the "social level". I realize this diverges
significantly from an orthodox Pirsig model but I'd be happy to elaborate
further as to why I believe that, or in your terms, why I "bought into" that
"common notion".
