I'm wondering whether religion is a necessary or important stage of
development for kids. I have a daughter and I have some desire to raise her
within a church. I kind of think it may be good for kids.
I was also thinking about the relationship between adolescent angst and
exististential angst and wondering if they are similar. Is existentialism a
stage between a religious perspective and postmodernism or pragmatism or
whatever.
I hope that's enough to spark some discussion. I'm definitely interested in
people's views on whether they would consider taking their kid to church.
Is God dead or is God for kids?

When faced with this issue personally I elected to take my children to
church. There were several reasons for this. The main reason was the same as
the reason I took them to school. If they are going to be educated citizens
they need to have an awareness and appreciation for the ideas and people
they will come in contact with. I am a books-on-tape kind of guy and I
listened to the entire Bible for this same reason. I don't think one can be
truly educated in this country without having read this book.
I took my kids to Presbyterian churches because they are less likely to talk
trash. There are basically two kinds of Christian churches in the US. Alter
Callers and Non-Alter Callers. Alter Callers are the religious right. I
would avoid them.
