Hi Ian,

does software development count as engineering?

That is a very interesting comparison ' Seem as if' versus 'causality' with
regard to design intent. The intent is certainly there in shape of the
struggle for life that all living things exhibit. I think it is stretching
it a bit to suggest that the 'blind watchmaker' idea is admission of a
creative force.

I have a wanderful book 'The Parsimonious Universe' about shape and form in
the natural world and indeed nature's solutions (I'm talking about it as if
it is alive - I'm turning into a pantheist!) are often perfectly efficient
including the inorganic.
