DMB,

...the difference you want doesn't have anything to do with "experience"
(which I have no problem with), it has to do with the idea of non-linguistic
knowledge. I still don't know what that is and I still don't know what is
wrong with my account.

Non-linguistic knowledge? I'm guessing you're refering to the
"pre-intellectual experience" here?

Matt:
No, I'm talking about the fact that everytime I say "all knowledge is
internal to language" or some such formulation, you deny it. I can only
imagine its because you have some notion of "non-linguistic knowledge".

And I still can't see why you think that my "brand of pragmatism seems to
emphasize language at the expense of just about everything else." What's
wrong with "not all linguistic activity is linguistically motivated, though
some of it is"? Does that leave out hot stoves?

It seems to me you basically fault me for not using the word "experience"
enough. You'd like to claim that the MoQ is "empirically based" in some
sense that pragmatism is not, but I can't see what that sense is. Does it
involve something stronger than accepting that experience = reality? I'm
not sure why it should, and I agree that experience = reality. And you
can't claim that I don't talk _about_ experience enough, because if
everything is experience, then one can't _help_ but talk about experience.
There's _something_ I don't talk enough about to statisfy you, but I'm not
entirely sure what it is or why I need to talk about it more. So, near as I
can figure, I simply don't use the word "experience" enough. But I'm not
sure why people should be faulted for not using particular words.
