I'm still trying to figure out where you stand on Pirsig's philosophy and
why you are participating in this discussion group. Could you explain your
position or point me to where you've done so previously? You seem to be
taking an unusual position for a member of this group, and it would be
helpful if you could let me (us?) know where you are coming from.

To say that Quality is neither this nor that seems okay as far as it
goes--not very far in my opinion. Do you not see a need to say anything
about Quality? Should we all unsubscribe?

I'm glad to see that you at least find Quality to be a useful metaphor
(which is a better way for me to say what a minimum openness to Pirsig's
ideas may be).

[Case]
I remain even in silence because there are smart people here talking about
things I care about. Even though I may not agree with them, even most of the
time, I believe them to be sincere in their pursuit of Truth. I don't see
much of that in RL and in Norrath no one really cares. 

Ham provided a very succinct reprint of my basic position a few posts ago.
