Hi all,

earlier someone said 'For purposes of MOQ precision, let's say that the
intellectual level is the same as mind.'
I dont see it mentioned in these forums that Pirsig first divided static
quality into mind and matter or subjects and objects before further
subdividing these two. So the mind is also the site of activity of the
social level and is not just the intellectual level.

Platt said:
Furthermore, the social level is not
defined by thoughtful people (intellectuals) but by nameless, faceless
groups such as one finds at a political rally, at prayers in a mosque,
or marching on a military parade ground

That was a very sweeping generalisation; whilst I wholeheartedly agree with
the idea that individuals must strive to become more aware of the social
conventions that they have been "educated" towards, nevertheless those
social groups you mentioned need intellectuals more than anything else so
that the individuals comprising the group (and all other individuals)
benefit more.

Where do all those notes come from?

Regards

Peter
