Ok, I called you a token liberal, but I did not mean it in a bad way. Your
persistence in calling right wing sludge, right wing sludge amazes me. I am
considered a total tree hugging liberal nut where I live. I visited Boston a
couple of years ago and was shocked to learn there was some place I could go
and be middle of the road. But publicly funded state parks? Some of those
places are isolated enough to make very attractive Gulags.

Preservation of public lands, state and federal, in the form of parks, wildlife
preserves, forests, etc., is probably one of my strongest political issues.
What I've seen, due to this inane political discourse of Absolute Party
Adherence, is a strange inability for voters to follow this issue, and instead
pander to "my guy". For example, when local republicans side with hunters and
sportsmen to protect state lands, left-wing environmentalists can't bring
themselves to side with the republicans, and will instead vote in a democrat
who turns around and sells off rights on some of the land to a landfill
company. When its a democrat who campaigns to protect these lands, right-wing
hunters endorse a republican who turns around and sells off rights on some of
the land to a timber company.

Whether its a republican doing it for hunters, or a democrat doing it for the
owls, I'll vote for anyone whose moral compass values public, preserved, open
lands for hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, biking and "getting away". To me,
nothing is as valuable a decision as one to preserve and protect these lands
for our children and grandchildren (and for US!).

What's funny is when I mention hunting around my left-wing ideologue friends, I
am considered a right-wing redneck, when I mention owls around my right-wing
idelogue friends, I am a environazi. And yet it is for both I petition. Crazy.
Part of the modern dichotomy where Party Loyalty trumps reason.

As for Gulag Plattipeligo, I say we build it in Alaska, and not give 'em any
DEET!
