[Gene]
Instead of the opposition of "Good and Evil" I almost exclusively use Good
and Bad now. Absolutely any static pattern of value can be described as Good
or Bad. Each level often has it's own criteria for what constitues Good or
Bad. However I think one criterion that would cover all levels is "Does not
cause harm to others." Anything that goes against that is probably a bad
pattern of values, whether it be toxic waste, Assault, Fascism or Lead
Paint. None of them are really evil, they're just not very good patterns.

The idea of Evil is just too clear cut for me, I guess.

[Case]
I vote for this one. Take the case of evolution for example. Lots of traits
are neutral and can continue to be distributed in populations. They may
atrophy like an appendix or they may grow to take on some weird aesthetic
attraction like the tails of birds of paradise. It is only when the trait
hinders that it is "bad" and hopefully gets weeded out.
