I would say they refer to similar concepts, but they are hardly identical!!
Elated is Much strong than the oher two. Glad is a rather passive word, a
conclusion to an event. Joyful is in response to current events, a very in
the new, but also mild word.
Although they all relate to happiness, they all have different degrees,
different connotations. Using one gives a completely different perception to
a sentence than using another.
That's why synonyms are a myth. When I say glad, I certainly don't mean
elated! I meant glad. It's why I said it.
And I doubly agree in the case of honesty and truth. They're related, but
hardly synonyms!
Maybe Honest and Truthful could be close to the same thing. But The Truth is
a purely intellectual concept, both of those ideas are definately social.
You have got to ditch this idea, Platt. It's really just a bad idea. It is
of low Quality. You can only explain it through random attacks against other
people's ideas, and by repeating yourself. A high quality idea should speak
for itself, and be able to change it's argumentation for any given
situation. Repeating means the idea is narrow, and attacking your critics
means the idea can't be defended, because it is too full of holes.
You should really just drop it.
