[MD] Existence precedes essense

[Case]

Actually, this has always been one of my favorite hymns. At first I was
puzzled why Platt would like it since it always seems to me to have
environmental overtones, emphasizing stewardship rather than dominance; sort
of an anthem for the tree huggers. It also has "Be here now" Buddhist
overtones as well. It does have the beauty thing going on though...

But I am even more puzzled by what Gene would find revolting about it unless
he is just being sarcastic.

That actually kinda made me wanna hurt myself. Just a little bit. Or someone
else. I guess it just sorta filled me with a formless anger. revulsion.
Something like that. Not sure what. It's not a good feeling though.

And of course one can! Maybe you haven't, but that hardly removes it from
possibility. I'm sure it's come up all sorts of times! Grateful but
miserable seems like a pretty likely link, actually. Don't underestimate the
human ability to confuse emotions almost constantly.
